My most inspirational and motivating thing in my life. I searched far and wide for her. Dreamed of her since I was young. Tried everything along the way but finally I got lucky and found her! She inspires me to be better than I am, more than I was. She makes me dream and makes me happy. She is why I feel like the luckiest man ever! So little Fry this ones for you...
and I leave Y'all with
another. It is inspiring and fitting to close out the mini series of Inspiration...
That's right sports fans tonight even though this blog comes to you in the wee hours of the morning (it's still dark outside) I intend to give thanks to a man of great character and quite the visionary. His life was not an easy one but I dare ask who's really is. He overcame grief, adversity and much opposition. Yes some of it during wartime. I want to give an honorable mention to Mr. Theodore Roosevelt an esteemed and most honored President Of The United States. I will give a link that explores his life and career so I can keep this short...http://www.whitehouse.gov/about/presidents/theodoreroosevelt
His reign in the hot seat in the White House gave hope and help to many Americans in times of great turmoil and trouble. We owe him thanks for his tireless crusades for not only justice and good government but we have national parks and a host of things here all because of him.He was quite inspirational and though this blog may end lacking refinements I am in a rush thanks to a rather unpredictable internet connection. I had to leave Y'all someone that inspired us and give you something to think about so...
Mr. Roosevelt I salute you Sir "No man has had a happier life than I have led; a happier life in every way."
Yes I am talking about a man who lead quite an interesting life until he had one to many in a saloon and ended up guest of honor at a neck tie party. Tom Horn is an ancestor if mine and as I researched the family history I found out more about him. I will not attempt to write a biography or ramble on for a long time. Instead I will post a few links offered by good ole Google and throw in a few videos from YouTube, some of which about the movie based on his life. This movie was made great in part because of a famous actor..one of my personal favorites: Mr. Steve McQueen!
http://www.tom-horn.com/photos.htm it was so shocking to me when I first saw a few photos of Tom because I swear to you he looked like a younger version of my grandfather. The only indication it was not him was Tom's mustache. To my knowledge Papaw never sported one in his younger days.
Tom Horn (the movie) Yes portrayed by the great Steve McQueen. He took a year off acting to research Tom and try to become him for the movie that ironically appeared on the silver screen the year I was born; good old 1980
That fascinated me and I will include another short action clip for you
There were 3 movies that I know of made about Tom. One in 1967, and in 1979 David Carradine played Tom. Personally I think he was used as a scapegoat leading him to his death and till he did he still was a detective in one form or another. But I will continue on to my point.
Now for the inspirational part...
If you cared to read the links I posted you learn that Tom was a soldier and a lawman. A detective and later branded an outlaw and killer for hire. I can't validate some of the claims of his "outlaw years" that lead to his demise. I will admit proudly and respectfully that part of his past, the lawman and detective Yes it inspired me to become a Private Investigator and for years I did my job well. Not something that I intend to write my memoirs on or anything but I can proclaim with pride in my voice that it is something Tom and I had in common.
If you peer into your family history you just might find that inspiration you been looking for Y'all so untill the next time...
Never Forget Your Past
Tonight we delve into more inspirations that are of a personal nature. I will attempt to give thanks to the people around me as i was growing up and a few that are responsible for my continued inspirations and reasons why I dream of more. It isn't going to be a detailed piece by any means but I think Y'all can agree and relate to. First I will mention all the time I spent with my grandparents and their friends. I learned so much and the times I had with them were priceless. A lot of little things or ideas I picked up along the way. And the lessons I learned and being introduced to some of my favorite things. Farming yes it really is good times and sadly to so many it is a lost art. And hearing stories of their past and they will talk and reminisce a whole lot in those "twilight" years. The stories of the wars were not into much detail because many years later the pain and lost still hurt and are not exactly the past they like bringing up. But for me the stories of how they made it. The fun they had back then that didn't involve computers or cell phones, cameras and high end electronics. Tales of working in the coal mines at a very tender young age, first vehicle and future life plans. Knowledge passed on to them that they are all too happy to down to you.
It is an amazement and makes you dream. It is mind boggling how with nearly nothing, a few old parts and scraps they used to forge an empire! They did it without help, without electronics or banks. They never gave up and held on to their dreams. Some of the hardest times in history are the time they grew up. The sheer determination and bull dog tenacity they had kept them alive and pushing on. Hard work and strong backs that is what forged this country. We have to respect that and wonder if we would have been strong enough to live in that time if we were suddenly thrust back in time...
That is a pretty awesome inspiration for me Y'all. Drop back in for some more and drop us a line. Feel free to showcase your own inspirations if you want.
I decided to write a bit about a movie that inspired me. Inspired laughter in myself and little brother as well. It starred a pair of slacker brothers. Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez!
What movie you may ask but hopefully many already know...
I am posting late and it is not about inspiring or adventuring. I am writing about my little brother Seth. He would have had a birthday on the 9th but sadly we lost him last year. The night before Easter. We had lost contact but he was living in another area but he had his hands full. His pride and joy is my nephew named after him. I was setting up a new business and was going to look him up and offer to bring him aboard as a partner. Now I still lament with all the coulda, woulda, shoulda...
He was an excellent carpenter and a great father. I could go on forever with stories as kids about him and me and often times our cousins. Time with grandparents, friends, and hours upon hours of hunting and exploring on the mountain I talk about so fondly. It weighs heavily upon my heart and the regret I have is as I'm told natural...what's natural about outliving a younger sibling though? I know he is in a better place and I do love the honery lil cuss.
Happy Birthday Little Brother! You will be missed always...
This concludes tonight's blog because I do not do the greif part or tribute to family justice it deserves. Take care Y'all and tell your family you love them. Give them a call just to say howdy and as how they are... It won't hurt anything and you will miss them when they are gone I promise you...
I had to add some videos that remind me of the things we loved ending with one last song that.. well watch and see...
I
This is a tiny bit but I had to..
And now for one that I heard that came out and I tried..not hard enough..
Howdy Y'all! Well as the title suggests this isn't per say going to be a blog tonight. Instead perhaps call it a declaration of intent. I think that a mini series showcasing dreams of the past and paying tribute to all the things that inspired them...
Are In Order. So for the next few posts we will delve into the world of fantasy and dreams. What inspired you as a kid? What inspired you to do what you do now? Well those questions are answered personally for everyone, be it a situation, a dream, a hero? Anything can inspire so I along this leg of the journey am going to also write about mine...
Hopefully you will be inspired, remember your old motivations, or just wonder ;)
