The Man Who Brought Geronimo In

Yes I am talking about a man who lead quite an interesting life until he had one to many in a saloon and ended up guest of honor at a neck tie party. Tom Horn is an ancestor if mine and as I researched the family history I found out more about him. I will not attempt to write a biography or ramble on for a long time. Instead I will post a few links offered by good ole Google and throw in a few videos from YouTube, some of which about the movie based on his life. This movie was made great in part because of a famous actor..one of my personal favorites: Mr. Steve McQueen!

First a few links for Y'all to browse if you like. http://www.thrillingdetective.com/eyes/horn.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Horn   This one is fairly in depth and I am going to make a point, several about what he inspired in me.

http://www.tom-horn.com/photos.htm it was so shocking to me when I first saw a few photos of Tom because I swear to you he looked like a younger version of my grandfather. The only indication it was not him was Tom's mustache. To my knowledge Papaw never sported one in his younger days.

And now, to ensure I quit rambling I will show a clip or so about http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080031/

Tom Horn (the movie) Yes portrayed by the great Steve McQueen. He took a year off acting to research Tom and try to become him for the movie that ironically appeared on the silver screen the year I was born; good old 1980

That fascinated me and I will include another short action clip for you

There were 3 movies that I know of made about Tom. One in 1967, and in 1979 David Carradine played Tom. Personally I think he was used as a scapegoat leading him to his death and till he did he still was a detective in one form or another. But I will continue on to my point.
Now for the inspirational part...

If you cared to read the links I posted you learn that Tom was a soldier and a lawman. A detective and later branded an outlaw and killer for hire. I can't validate some of the claims of his "outlaw years" that lead to his demise. I will admit proudly and respectfully that part of his past, the lawman and detective Yes it inspired me to become a Private Investigator and for years I did my job well. Not something that I intend to write my memoirs on or anything but I can proclaim with pride in my voice that it is something Tom and I had in common.

If you peer into your family history you just might find that inspiration you been looking for Y'all so untill the next time...
Never Forget Your Past
